1. Serum Amyloid A Protein (SAA), a Rapid Acute Phase
Reactant
- Product: LZ Test 'Eiken' SAA
- Principle:
Anti SAA coated latex agglutination photometric immunoassay. The reagent
can be applied to autoanalyzers for Clinical Chemistries (Hitachi, Olympus
etc.).
- Features:
SAA is a sensitive and rapid acute phase reactant for the monitoring
of inflammatory diseases and assessing the prognosis in secondary amyloidosis.
Serum SAA levels in patients with inflammatory diseases, mostly correlate
with that of CRP, conventional acute phase reactant, however, SAA levels
show higher and may respond more rapidly. Especially, the response of
serum SAA in patients with immunosuppressive therapy with cyclosporin,
prednisolone, in which serum CRP may be suppressed, still occurs. Thus,
SAA may be useful for diagnosis of inflammatory diseases.

2. Latex Photometric Immunoassay Reagent for Basic
Fetoprotein (BFP)
- Product: LX reagent 'Eiken' BFP
- Principle:
Anti BFP monoclonal antibody coated latex photometric immunoassay. The
reagent can be applied to a fully automatic immunochemical analyzer
LX (Eiken chemical Co., Ltd.).
- Features:
BFP is a fetoprotein found in the intestines, serum and brain tissue
of human fetuses by Ishii and is a basic protein with a molecular weight
of 55kD migrating to gammaglobulin fraction in the electrophoresis.
Serum BFP has been widely used as a broader spectrum tumor marker. Recently,
the presence of BFP in the urine has been confirmed and its clinical
significance has been evaluated. At present, the measurement of BFP
in the urine is considered to be highly useful for the diagnosis of
urothelial cancer, especially bladder cancer.

3. ELISA Kit for Serum Pepsinogen I (PG I) and Pepsinogen
II (PG II)
- Product: E-Plate 'Eiken' Pepsinogen I and E-Plate 'Eiken'
Pepsinogen II
- Principle:
The test method is based on the solid phase 2 step sandwich enzyme immunoassay
method using 96 wells microplate coated with anti Pepsinogen I and anti
Pepsinogen II as solid-phase, respectively.
- Features:
Pepsinogen(PG) is an inactive zymogen of pepsin, a proteolytic enzyme
found in gastric secretions. It is immunologically classified into two
types, pepsinogen I (PG I) and pepsinogen II (PG II). Since the serum
levels of PG I and PG II reflect primarily the number of chief cells
and accessory cells in gastric fundus, it is thought that measurements
of serum PG I and PG II, as well as the ratio of PG I/PG II may be useful
in the evaluation of the degree of atrophic gastritis, diagnosis of
peptic ulcer disease and the assessment of gastric acidity. It is also
known that lesions with a high degree of atrophy are considered to be
associated with a higher incidence of stomach cancer, therefore, the
measurements of PG I and PG II may be useful as a screening tool in
populations at high risk for stomach cancer.

4. ELISA Kit for Serum Bisphenol A (BPA)
- Product : BPA ELISA 'Eiken'
- Principle:
This method is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) using the
second antibody solid-phase method, based on the competitive method.
- Features :
4, 4'-Isopropylidenediphenol (Bisphenol A : BPA) is used as a starting
material for epoxy and polycarbonate resins, and as a stabilizer for
polyvinyl chloride resin. Polycarbonate is widely used in polycarbonate
baby bottles and in the epoxy resin coating of the lid and polyethylene
terephthalate (PET), and it is thought that BPA has a close connection
with endocrine disruption. It has been shown that a large number of
determinations in possible, the cost of the reagents is lower, and the
assay procedure is simpler than with other methods, such as GC-MS and
HPLC. As a means of evaluating safety to humans, the proposed method
can contribute to the determination of BPA.
