The World Pathology Foundation was established in 1969 and the Charter of the WPF is directed to support trainee Pathologists, through Gordon Signy Fellowships, from applicants from countries with limited resources, to obtain expertise in relevant laboratory techniques, with the help of financial grants, to travel to centers of international excellence. Additional activities to promote the standards of Pathology are also supported. The foundation is administered by a Board of Trustees. The current members of the Board are:
The funds of the Foundation have been derived mainly from donations and from the work of the Auxiliary, the latter supporting particularly the Gordon Signy Fellowships (vide infra). More funds are urgently needed to support the work of the World Association, especially in the task of representing pathology in international bodies.
