New features of Global Pathology Supercourse are follows:
There is a critical need for training in Pathology worldwide. A major problem is access to pathology specimens, as well as pathology reference materials. This is especially problematic in developing countries. We propose to establish a pathology supercourse where leaders in pathology world wide develop Internet based lectures which can be taken "off the shelf" by the teachers of pathology in medical schools, nursing schools, and other areas.
The model will be that based upon the supercourse as described in depth. The course will be an inexpensive low-band width Internet based system. The lectures will be developed in Power Point, with hypertext links. The instructors merely need to provide a video taped lecture, and this will put into the supercourse format. All lectures will be peer reviewed, with continuous quality control. For a system like this most areas of the world potentially could access it.
We will develop the pathology course for a one-year period, during which time we will generate many lectures on the web.
