Recent Topics on the WASP

In 1993 the WASP adopted the President-Elect system, so that a President can be well acquainted with the current WASP activities during the term of the President-Elect.

In 1994 President Herdson rewrote the WASP Mission and Goals, so that the direction of the WASP activities is now more clearly defined.

In 1995, the Bureau considered seriously to prepare for the new era of information superhighway, and decided to open the internet homepage of the WASP's own. It was fortunate that Dr. Mikio Mori with much efforts could open the WASP homepage in December 1996. Now all the informations related to the WASP may be obtained through internet throughout the world.

At the previous meeting of the House of Delegates in 1997 the change of the name of the World Association was approved to be the World Association of Societies of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Now the WASP should be well prepared for the new millinium for its increasing activity and prosperity. (Figure 7)

Acknowledgement: Although I had put much of my time into the WASP activities during my professional career as a clinical pathologist, I cannot express my satisfaction how much I have enjoyed meeting and communicating with many clinical pathologists, laboratory scientists, industrial representatives and also their spouses both internationally and within Japan. I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to all people and organizations who have supported me in working on the World Association of Societies of Pathology for the past 30 years.
