President’s Message December 01, 2001
Dear Colleagues, Thanks for your cooperation and coordination as well as the leadership of Dr. Utz P. Merten, the XXI World Congress of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (WASPaLM) was successfully finished in Duesseldorf, Germany in November 2001 with many participants from all over the world in spite of unstable political and economic environment caused by recent terrorism. Next WASPaLM will take place on August 30-September 3, 2003 in Busan, Korea, and we hope you will mark and reserve the date on your schedule in advance. It is my great pleasure and honor to be elected 19th President of WASPaLM at the House of Delegates held on November 21, 2001. In international pathology and laboratory medicine we will continue to see growing difficulties in social and economic field in particular. Though the problems will be different in every country, we are sure that the problems could be more effectively addressed and controlled by pathologists and laboratory physicians who are kept informed of the problems and its development worldwide. I firmly believe that good communication among society members must be the first indispensable step for us to work together. We are now in new era of information superhighway, and since December 1996 WASPaLM has kept opened our own home page through which all members of constituent societies can easily and rapidly communicate each other. Our web site provides not only communication tools but also many links of interests such as Super course of Pathology to which new topics plan to be added. To share all information of World Congress and further develop new field of pathology and laboratory medicine, we encourage you to utilize the web site more frequently. Minor changes are also important to keep good communication, and when you changed the officers of your constituent society, please let us know it as soon as possible so that we can always keep you informed of up-to-date information. With your cooperation and coordination we hope we will increase activity and prosperity for the benefits of all of us. Sincerely yours
Mikio Mori , M.D. - back -
